Established by the community in 1977, CHAC is a busy neighbourhood advice centre in Manchester providing face-to-face legal advice and support to residents.

Finance and Administrative Officer
Location: Manchester M8
Hours: Part-time (21 hours per week worked over 4 days)
Salary: £24,920 pro rata (£14,952 actual)
Contract: This is a permanent post, subject to funding

We are recruiting a Finance and Administration Officer. This is an important post within Cheetham Hill Advice Centre, carrying out the financial and administration tasks that keep this busy charity running. Key tasks include bookkeeping, processing invoices and preparing financial reports alongside administration of human resources functions and management of the smooth running and maintenance of the office. You do not need any experience of working for a charity.

You will work alongside the charity Manager and will have a key role in providing information to the Board of trustees. You will work alongside the advice team and will also have role in supporting volunteers and ensuring the charity is a welcoming place for all.

Experience

Financial Administration

* A minimum of two years’ experience of working as a bookkeeper or as a payroll or financial administrator.

* Ability to administer the payment of invoices, and the day-to-day management of petty cash and undertake banking transactions.

* Ability to use QuickBooks or similar accounting software

* Ability to prepare draft accounts, budgets and financial reports.

General Administration

* Experience of working in a busy office environment and of devising and maintaining appropriate administrative and information systems.

* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with management, staff, volunteers, customers, contractors, suppliers and funders.

* Excellent computer literacy skills, including word processing, file management, data entry, and development and maintenance of spreadsheets

Work Skills

* Ability to work on own initiative with limited supervision and manage own workload effectively

* Strong organisational, planning and time management skills.

* Ability to work quickly and accurately with strong attention to detail

* Working in a community organisation

* Ability to work effectively as part of a team

* Understanding of equality and diversity and an understanding of working in a diverse, multicultural community.

* Ability support volunteers to have a positive experience while they are in the office.
