Stores Person

Office based – permanent

£25,000 – £26,000 per year

Established for nearly 100 years, our Birmingham based clients are a nationally recognised leader within their niche sector. Specialising in a variety of different finishing processes, predominantly within aerospace and defence.

They are looking for a Stores Person to supervise the Manufacturing Stores function, monitoring stock movement and facilitate production

Duties & Responsibilities of the Stores Manager:

Managing organisation of stores areas, stock and ensuring efficient and effective management of these areas and the resources stored.

Management of stock maintenance above established minimum order levels.

Utilisation and management of new automated and computer stock maintenance system.

Ensuring suppliers meet required lead times, certification requirements and H&S documentation.

Maintaining records in line with quality department requirements.

Ensuring effective issuing of goods, PPE and specific amounts of chemicals to shop floor and facilitating good workings of the established requisition procedures.

Interact with management, sales, technical and quality personnel to research, new chemicals/paints, etc and ensure they are purchased from specific sources in line with statutory, regulatory, quality and customer requirements, whilst aiding upkeep and use of the approved suppliers list.

Manage and advise personnel regarding the care and preservation of items received, stored, shipped and used.

Undertake reviews of records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures and determine adequacy of stock levels and making adjustments accordingly, including monitoring of expiry dates.

Trace history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock-control records and recommend remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.

Checking Goods in receipt notes and delivery notes against order requirements.

Aid establishment and reporting of KPI’s.

Working with both paper documents and electronic files.

Running of some company contracts, such as those for waste disposal with the aid of the technical department.

Ensuring all team members have access to necessary documentation/certification/records, as appropriate.

Doing routine tasks like data entry, organisation, cross-referencing, scanning, copying and retrieval of information.

Other general administration duties.

Helping out with ordering/hiring of maintenance equipment, as and when required.

Assist the deck with shipping of goods and receipt of materials received into the factory, including work from abroad and in the EU.

The Successful Candidate must have the following skills/experience

Be methodical, organised, disciplined and self-motivated.

Good data organisation and storage knowledge.

Good IT skills and proficient with computer software.

Strong focus on health & safety and good housekeeping practices.

Experience within a warehouse/goods in/out environment would be an advantage.

An eye for detail and an inquisitive mind, who is willing to provide "completed staff work".

Experience in reviewing technical documents and drawings would be an advantage, but not essential.

Effective Communication skills and legible handwriting.

Background in purchasing, inventory management or business management preferred.

Ability to multitask; managing multiple projects and meeting critical deadlines on a continuous basis.

Demonstrate leadership potential.

Ability to work as part of cross functional teams.

Demonstrated ability to plan and execute projects.

Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
