Our client, a leading company specialising in the movement of goods via airfreight and seafreight are looking to recruit a Credit Controller / Accounts Assistant to join their finance team and be based at offices in Southall, London.

* A salary up to £37K, depending on experience

Main Purpose of the Role:
The Credit Controller / Accounts Assistant will undertake a wide variety of accounting/finance tasks relating to purchase and sales ledger, as well as supporting the finance team with general administration tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Processing, coding, and entering purchase orders, invoices and expense forms.
* Allocating receipts and credit notes against invoices.
* Ensure transactions are properly recorded and entered.
* Allais with suppliers.
* Check customer’s credit and approve or deny applications based on company standards and requirements
* Negotiate payment plans with customers and set up loan terms and conditions
* Maintain accurate records of loans, analyse the effectiveness of the company’s credit control system and implement changes to improve profitability and reduce bad debts
* Ensure customers pay on time and chase any overdue invoices
* Develop the credit control system in collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Finance and company executives
* Improve and implement debt collection processes when there are any overdue invoices or payments, and initiate legal proceedings if necessary
* Daily filing documentations and maintaining account records.
* Assisting with ad hoc analysis to support the team
To Be Considered:
* Proven experience as a Credit Controller / Accounts Assistant
* Ideally, educational degree level in Accounts. Finance, Business or other related qualification
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Good planning and organisation skills.
* Strong analytical skill with an eye for detail
* Excellent ICT skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
* Experience using Sage and familiarity with data entry and analysis.
* Proven track record of making successful credit decisions.
* Be able to work under pressure.
* Ability to negotiate with customers and negotiate winning results.
* Experience using the following software packages: Impatex and Netfreight, would be highly advantageous
* Client-facing (customer service) and interpersonal skills
