The role

Underwriting Assistant

London – Hybrid

The Energy Division writes a global book of upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas business, as well as offshore construction and renewable energy, they are now looking for an Underwriting Assistant to help support their midstream business. We are leaders in a number of our chosen areas and require a commitment to technical expertise and accuracy to maintain this leadership role. A great emphasis is placed on the relationship between the insured and insurer. Business is written through both Markel Syndicate 3000 and Markel International Insurance Company Limited. The Division maintains close relationships with the Marine division and underwriters in MINT's overseas offices.

What you will be doing:

Providing and maintaining a good standard of technical underwriting support for the Energy Division underwriting teams including research and review of our data
Accurate capture of aggregation, risk and premium data on the company systems
Helping to develop and maintain strong working relationships with London and overseas brokers
Analysing risks through applicable rating tools and/or other systems as required
Control and timely transfer of all documentation from the underwriting team to the appropriate recipient in accordance with MINT and Divisional standards and SLA's
Resolving issues raised by the Underwriting Support Team, particularly in relation to data quality/completeness and escalation of premium chasing
Liaising with third party data entry team ensuring timely and accurate aggregation entry
Liaising with CAT Management team to ensure that aggregation checks and queries are managed in a timely and complete fashion
Liaising with brokers as required
Arranging weekly team meetingsWhat we are looking for:

Have passed or be prepared to complete the Lloyd's Introductory Test or Award in London Market Insurance shortly after employment; completion of the CII Advanced Diploma in Insurance is required
Have significant relevant experience as an Underwriting Assistant
Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Be educated to A-level standard or equivalent
Possess sound numerical and analytical ability and have achieved grade A-C in Maths GCSE or equivalentWhat's in it for you?
