WHO WE ARE

The Suez Smart & Environmental Solutions global business unit (SES) aims to accelerate the development and roll-out of our smart environmental solutions on a global scale. To meet the demands of a growing and highly competitive market, the SES BU is organized around two complementary approaches:
1- via Solutions, to ensure rapid development and service-to-market. There are 5 solution lines: digital and decentralized solutions, environmental quality & smart agriculture, asset performance management, air & climate, and consulting & smart city.
2- via geographies, in relation to the other Group entities (i.e. the 6 Regions and the Global WTS BU), to ensure optimal service and customer-centric offers.

Salary: £19,371.31 – £19,871.31

Purpose of role: To enable a trainee to become competent in the following areas:

Analysing bulk materials and soils for the presence of asbestos.
Operating instrumentation and producing accurate results, ensuring workload is organised and up to date.
Participation in internal and external (AIMS) quality schemes for the identification of asbestos in materials.
Delivery of key objectives.
Successful completion of training and p401 qualification will lead to movement to asbestos analyst.

Main Responsibilities:

Analysis for the presence of asbestos in accordance with HSE publication HSG 248.
Participation of AISS (asbestos in soils scheme)
Preparation of samples for analysis
Responsible for hitting daily targets and deadlines as set by the Asbestos Manager
The calculation and interpretation of analytical results.
Ensuring Health and Safety procedures are adhered to.
Ensuring Quality procedures are adhered to.
Data entry into LIMS.
Calibration, equipment and balance checks.
Housekeeping, ensuring the laboratory work area is clean, tidy and free from rubbish.

Qualifications required:
3 GCSE's grade A-C/standard grade – general pass including Maths, English and Science.

Experience required:
No previous experience required.
Full training will be provided, including undertaking the P401 Certificate for the "Identification of Asbestos in Bulk Samples".
