Overview
TXM Recruit are looking for an experienced Materials and Processes Co-Ordinator (also referred to as a BOM’s & Routings Analyst) to join our rail industry solutions client in Birmingham.
The role involves the compilation of inventory data entries for materials and manufacturing processes from Engineering Drawings of the products our client are contracted to provide to their customers.
Working off your own initiative, along with the capability to read and work from engineering drawings, are both essential to this role. The parts are safety critical and therefore attention to detail is of the utmost importance.
Our client utilises an ERP System which the defined Bill of Materials (BOM’s) and Manufacturing Processes (Routings) are entered, along with respective predesignated estimated costs and process times.
Person Specification:
The successful candidate will have experience working within the Rail or similar manufacturing industry and have been involved with product development in one means or another. We are looking for a highly motivated person as you will be expected to work on your own initiative although you will still need to operate well within a team environment with constant liaison with other internal departments. We are seeking someone who is capable of working to deadlines and within time frames and who can work well under pressure. You will need to have very good attention to detail and a good level of concentration.
The role will suit a person with some technical experience as the majority of all items are derived from technical 3D models and 2D technical drawings. A grasp of manufacturing methods/processes such as Laser Cutting, Bending, Welding, Paint Finishing & Assembly would also be a must.
Training in the use of our ERP system will be provided to the successful Candidate in the way that it supports our business; this will involve data entry, data manipulation and data analysis, export and import of data via Excel.
General Responsibilities
Generate a New Inventory item for every saleable item as per the Client Order within the ERP System.
Create Bills of Materials for each assembly/item as defined from the Client/Our Drawings and populate the predefined cost value for each material element within the BOM.
Define the manufacturing routing path for each assembly/item from the Client/Our Drawings and enter the predefined times for each process within the routing path.
Entry of predefined and detailed material and labour costs and times where expected for any sub-contracted element within the BOM/Routing.
Verify that the Summary BOM & Routing Value matches the Contracted Client Order Value.
Attend internal meetings as required.
Ensure all company policies and procedures are adhered to, ensuring compliance with the Accredited Integrated ISO Management System.
Undertake any other reasonable management request in line with the business needs. Basic Requirements
Excellent PC skills, in particular Microsoft Excel & Spreadsheets.
A good understanding of Engineering Drawings and Bills of Material.
An understanding of manufacturing/assembly processes.
Reliable with a strong work ethic.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work effectively alone and in a team environment.
To be flexible in a team-oriented environment.
Must embrace change and be willing to adopt new skills to support all areas of the business.Desirable Qualities
Certified Academic Passes in English and Maths to Grade C or better.
The ability to interpret 3D models, generate a Bill of Materials.
Experience with MRP /SAP system software.
Engineering Certification would be advantageous.
