Job Profile:

The Medical Information Enquiry Handler is responsible for providing a scientific service for pharmaceutical companies, you will triage, process and respond to medical enquiries about company products. You will perform accurate computer data entry of enquiry information, ensure timely processing and provide high quality responses to ensure medicinal products are used safely by prescribers and patients. During their daily activities the MIO will be required to liaise with healthcare professionals, patients, pharmaceutical companies and other business partners.

Main aspects of the role

* Accessing electronic enquiries daily for incoming enquiries, from healthcare professionals or members of the public,

* Answering telephone calls received for medical enquiries and collecting all necessary details related to the enquiry,

* Provide high quality technical and non-technical responses using the appropriate reference safety information,

* Providing a first point of contact for patients and healthcare professionals seeking clinical advice about products,

* Advising patients and healthcare professionals about the safe use of the product in various clinical situations,

* Deal with enquiries according to company operating procedures, using templates and other guidance documents,

* Striving to meet customer deadlines and expectations, particularly in urgent or high priority situations,

* Logging medical enquiries, product quality complaints and Adverse Event reports onto a secure database,

* Triaging enquiries for clinical priority to ensure that NHS and patient needs are prioritised,

* Keeping the Medical Information Manager fully informed of problems and issues that may arise,

* Conducting follow up investigations to gather additional information on adverse events or product quality complaints,

* Communicating product complaints to the pharmaceutical company for investigation and monitoring their progress,

* Sending out patient aids, risk management materials and/or educational materials to enquirers by post, email or fax,

* Compiling monthly stats reports for each client or a group of particular clients,

* Attending and actively participating in Team Meetings,

* Participating in training, attending training courses to improve your skills,

* Keeping your Training Folder up to date in preparation for audits or inspections,

* Other general administrative tasks related to medical information that may be required from time-to-time.

Minimum Requirements:

Life science graduate, pharmacist, nurse, dispensing technician or other allied healthcare professional.

A person with a professional, friendly and polite demeanour, who is care centred and service driven.

An organised, proactive person with excellent attention to detail and good telephone manner.

Excellent oral and written communication with proficiency in standard software programs
