GEO-ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANT

My clients have an opportunity for an Assistant/Graduate Geo-environmental/Geo-technical Consultant.

My clients are a Geo-environmental consultancy based in Warwickshire and operating throughout the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for a junior consultant /engineer to become a member of a successful Geo-environmental consultancy involved in projects of all sizes and varying complexities from large housing estates and major commercial development to local building conversions and extensions.

My clients are involved in all aspects of Geo-environmental consulting including foundation design, contaminated land assessment, slope stability assessment and gas protection design and verification. The position will involve site work where the successful candidate will take responsibility for the planning of field operations in terms of technical direction, health and safety and management of a range of sub-contractors.

The role will also entail data entry of fieldwork results, analysis of laboratory results and Geo-technical and contaminated land interpretation under the supervision and guidance of senior staff.

The successful candidate will become a key member within the team and will take responsibility for the successful delivery of projects from start to finish meeting the programme requirements of our clients.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants will have a relevant degree in Geology, Earth or Environmental Sciences or Geo-technical Engineering. A Master's degree in a relevant subject would be an asset but not essential. The candidates must be eligible to work in the UK and hold a full UK driving licence.

Awareness of or practical experience of Geo-environmental engineering from Phase 1 desk studies to Phase 2 ground investigations and validation of remediation works and Geotechnical engineering would be an asset but not essential.

not expecting graduates to have any practical experience of Geo-environmental engineering, but an understanding of the industry would be an asset.

Experience in managing subcontractors and suppliers would be an asset but again is not essential.

Experience is also preferred in working on active industrial and commercial or development sites but again this is not essential if the applicant is a graduate.

Current Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card is desirable but not essential if the applicant is a graduate.

Demonstrate training, experience, and competence in logging to current BS5930 is desirable but not essential if a graduate.

Any shortfalls in the successful candidate's training or experience will be addressed by a period of in-house and external training on joining the company.

Benefits

£18,000 to £25,000/year subject to qualifications and experience.
