Robert Walters Group: Global Payroll – Solihull – Permanent – £40k – £45k – Hybrid

I'm currently working alongside a leading business based in Birmingham in their recruitment of an International Payroll Team Leader on a permanent basis. The role offers great opportunities for progression and will be paying £40k-£50k based on experience.

Key Responsibilities of the Global Payroll Officer:

Responsibility includes payroll delivery, vendor management, operational effectiveness and development of service level metrics and management of end-to-end controls for payroll processes while also developing a culture of continuous improvement in all countries.

Responsible for the tracking and reconciliation of employee deductions and earnings including, but not limited to deductions for employee benefits, local taxes, and earnings for base salaries, bonuses and commissions.

Ensure accurate reporting to taxing authorities of taxable wages, including both cash and non-cash items such as relocation expenses, excess group-term life insurance, stock-based compensation, auto allowances, taxable use of company property, gifts and other reimbursements that may be taxable in accordance with local laws.

Analyse complex pay transactions, identify issues that exist and work with various internal operational teams to identify root cause of payroll system issues, assess risk and implement mitigation plans to minimise or eliminate future occurrence.

Provide leadership and management to a team of payroll specialists to execute payroll accurately.

Manages performance and provides training and oversight of day-to-day payroll processing activities to insure the team functions in cohesive effective unit.

Support the design, implementation, and operational delivery of a standardised global payroll solution with highest level of integration.

Provide strategic direction on payroll and time tracking systems that support payroll.

A strong collaborator, this position assists employees and business partners as needed related to payroll issues through initiating meetings, resolving process procedures, and adding input into ongoing solutions.

Research and interpret government regulations affecting payroll procedures. Educates business and payroll personnel as needed to ensure payroll is in compliance.

Identify audit protocols which support payroll and data entry accuracy.

Ability to manage and lead payroll related projects and operational initiatives which would include creating project plans, executing, testing and implementing.

Work closely with Finance on tax related items related to setting up new tax entities and insuring timely payments of various tax liabilities.

Assist with the workers' compensation and audits as needed.

Develop a set of metrics to measure delivery, accuracy and other measures.

Key responsibilities of the Global Payroll Officer:

Demonstrates senior-level experience managing payroll for a multi-country environment (such as, Spain, Germany, South Africa, France, Portugal Lithuania, Sweden, Turkey and the United Kingdom).

Payroll Application experience (such as Workday).

Advanced Excel skills to perform complex analysis and reporting (Vlookup, pivot tables).

Excellent problem-solving skills to identify root cause resolution and initiative to work through complex difficult scenarios.

Proactive strategic thinker, identifying programs and projects before issues surface.

Experience building great teams, infusing the company's culture into the organisation and motivating a workforce

Any CPP, CIPP or Global Payroll Management Certificate (GPMI) is a plus
