Our client is a leading supplier within the home furnishings sector. Established for over 50 years their continued growth is impressive and to support this we are recruiting for an experienced General Manager within their components manufacturing department.
The Job
* Overall responsibility of component production i.e. Shutter Manufacturing, Injection Moulding, Press Shop, Paint Line, Extrusion, Automated Assembly.
* Additional responsibilities include overseeing Sub-Assembly, Quality Control and Warehouse operations.
* Co-ordinate the day to day running of the above departments to ensure flow or orders thought the factory.
* Issuing of production programmes.
* Liaise with other Senior Managers regarding production planning to maintain stock levels or to meet specific customers’ orders and technical issues.
* Prepare job descriptions for all occupations within each department.
* Assist with new product development & alternative material development.
* Monthly purchase budget – Plastic, Steel, Platers & Powder Coating, Springs
* Raw material stock control and forward order planning.
* Liaise with suppliers on regular basis.
* Maintain sufficient stock of manufactured components. Stock control of all WIP throughout the production departments.
* Identify staff training requirements, keep records of training given.
* Record and monitor machine production cycle times and product material weights to assist in costing.
* Implement Lean Manufacturing principals.
About you
* The successful person must haves Senior Production Leadership experience.
* A strong background within an Injection Moulding / Extrusion environment will certainly be an advantage.
* Good negotiation skills, Production planning, supply chain management experience is required. A solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing. Monitor sales orders and stocks, forecasting for future demand of new and existing products.
* Good general level of education, preferably with engineering background.
* Computer skills in Windows, Excel, Microsoft Word, MRP/ERP Systems.
* Able to deal with all levels of management and workforce.
* Able to deal with customers and suppliers, good telephone manners are essential.
* High level of product knowledge.
