Field Service Engineer

Our client has been established for half a century and specialise in the planned preventative and reactive maintenance and repair of the complete range of special purpose waste processing machinery, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit a multi skilled Field Service Engineer to complement their established and professional team.
It is an essential requirement for this Field Service Engineer position that you are a multiskilled engineer with the ability to maintain and repair hydraulic and electrical circuits, have a good mechanical knowledge and be able to carry out basic fabrication activities.
You will be provided with a company vehicle and tasked with visiting customer sites throughout the South West region of the UK (so ideally will be based in or around the Gloucester / Cheltenham / Bristol area) conducting servicing and general works on the complete range of special purpose machinery. This includes PPM and servicing as well as fault finding for breakdowns, diagnosing faults on electrical control panels / circuits and hydraulic circuits and effecting repairs as required as well as conducting basic fabrication and mechanical repairs where necessary. You will be skilled in reading electrical and hydraulic circuit drawings and relaying technical information accurately and efficiently.
Whilst experience of hydraulic and electrical control circuits is essential for the position, a hands-on approach with a background in mechanical / electrical / hydraulic engineering is also required with welding experience proving distinctly advantageous.
A self-motivated individual able to work both autonomously and as part of a team and who enjoys the variety and challenges a service engineer role brings, you will need to possess experience of fault find, diagnosis and repair on a range of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems, as well as experience of permit to work' protocols and other company safety rules and regulations for the purposes of provision of safety, and be skilled in evaluating the operational status of all processes and services and developing plans to ensure continuous running as well as ensuring that planned maintenance standards are maintained.
In order to be considered for this varied and challenging Field Service Engineer position, you will demonstrate a flexible, self-motivated and pro-active approach with strong organisation and planning skills and the ability to integrate quickly as an effective team member. You will possess excellent customer facing communication skills at all levels and be both commercially aware and capable of operating with the minimum of guidance whilst ensuring the highest levels of professionalism and customer satisfaction are maintained at all times.
