Overview
Job Purpose:
To plan storage and distribution of customer orders from receipt to delivery whilst ensuring the most cost effective and suitable transport route. To ensure the DC operates efficiently, safely and at budgeted cost
Duties & Responsibilities:
Organise and monitor transport requirements in conjunction with the Transport Senior Team Leader
Challenge transport performance through KPI’s
Plan and manage customer orders from receipt in the sales office to delivery at the customers required site by evaluation of customer needs and cost-effective transport
Plan and manage day-to-day stock accuracy in conjunction with the DC stock controller
Plan and monitor receipts from the Factory/Suppliers and ensure there is space to store product & optimise storage opportunities
Plan and implement a manning structure to be fully operational within the budgeted efficiency targets
Plan and manage daily/weekly output in line with budget/forecast
Process and monitor DC costs in conjunction with the Company Accountant
Monitor and troubleshoot WMS systems in conjunction with IT to ensure a continuous process
Propose, implement, and monitor improved ways of working
Attend cross-departmental management meetings and co-ordinate any issues
Coordination with colleagues in other DC across the group to align on Intercompany optimisation
Ensure supply of resources such as pallets, packaging etc.
Follow up customer queries on delivery exceptions
Support Business Continuity projects
Annually assess and refine FLT requirements
In conjunction with Purchasing, ensure all annual contracts are reviewed and renewed within the budgeted costs
Comply with Health and Safety responsibilities as defined in the company health and safety policy, and ensure these are adequately delegated in the absence of the job holder
Comply and enforce all Company policies and processes as defined in the company Handbook
Person Profile:
Knowledge of the Transport Industry, Export, 3PL, Customs Management
Good knowledge of Microsoft office or equivalent
Good knowledge of WMS/SAP systems
Excellent People Management skills

Education and/or Experience
10+ years’ Warehouse/Transport Management experience
Experience of working within an FMCG environment
Logistics Diploma or equivalent level
English and Maths GCSE level
Transport Manager CPC qualification
