Spencer Clarke Group are working alongside an NHS Trust based in Cambridge to appoint a talented Decontamination Engineer on a permanent basis.

As a Decontamination Engineer , you will undertake validations, PPM and reactive maintenance on all types of decontamination equipment, act as a site specific contracted AP(D) and support the training team by delivering decontamination. The post holder will be part of AVM’s multi-disciplined team, and should therefore be able to work as part of the team. Along with the ability to work alone. The post holder will be required to act as the Maintenance Person (sterilizers, washer disinfectors, Endoscope washers & Drying Cabinets), as defined by the Department of Health. The post holder will ensure that all work is carried out to  the highest possible standard and at all times to work  within the guidelines laid out in the AVM procedures manual so as to fulfil the Trust’s overall objectives

About the role:

The post holder will be required to act as the Competent Person (sterilizers/washer disinfectors/EWD/drying Cabinets), as defined by Department of Health guidelines for NHS Trusts, Private Healthcare Establishments and Commercial Organisations.
The post holder will be part of AVM’s multi-disciplined team and should therefore be able to work as part of the team. Along with the ability to work alone.
The post holder will ensure that all work is carried out to the highest possible standard at all times to work within the guidelines laid out in the AVM procedures manual, and so as to tfulfil the Trust’s overall objectives.
The post holder must at all times adhere to Client Health and Safety requirements at every site worked upon and at all times be polite and courtesy to all levels of staff and patients.
The post holder will be willing to undertake training to allow them to advance into delivering training and act as an AP(D).
To interpret all results so as to prepare and present detailed reports and documentation in accordance with Department of Health guidelines.
The post holder must have excellent communication skills to precisely inform issues to the Operations Manager if/when/as they occur.
Make informed use of detailed technical information provided by the manufacturers service manuals.
To carry out investigations and to repair and give advice on complex fault finding of decontamination equipment.
To inform Users of faults, the action taken and to give advice on how to avoid re-occurrence.
To liaise with Decontamination Leads and other site managers at contracted client sites with regards to technical and operational problems of all types of decontamination equipment.
To undertake (where applicable) steam testing on decontamination equipment, to interpret results, compile reports both manually and in electronic format, and advise the Site Management of the results.

To Follow a strict schedule of planned work.
To be able to use a wide range of calibration equipment and to ensure that all  test equipment is calibrated to within the Department of Health guidelines before and after testing.
The post holder must be able to assist in the development of new protocols/methodologies for the testing of new equipment or products.
The need to be physically fit is required, as there is often the lifting of heavy equipment involved.
Be an active and supportive member of the AVM Decontamination team and be willing to support and assist work colleagues when requested.
Feedback on all matters affecting the quality of service offered by AVM by the completion of corrective action forms.
It is the responsibility of the post holder to ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard, and in accordance with AVM quality procedures
Maintain effective communication, adequate liaisons and good relationships with clients.
You will be working with users/operators of decontamination equipment, and you must maintain professional approach at all times.
You should be aware that you will be working in a clinical environment and will witness patients in various stages of their illness/recovery and therefore patient’s dignity and privacy must be taken into account.
Clients will be based over various areas and you should be willing to travel, sometimes for an extended period of time per day, and stay away from home when required.
You will be called upon to work in areas such as theatres, mortuary, or various premises where you may be exposed to distressing circumstances, and you will have to adhere to local policies.
You will be called upon to work in laboratory and biological hazardous premises and you will be familiar with the strict working protocols which must be adhered to.
You should be able to read and interpret technological drawings and manuals relating to decontamination equipment.
You must be willing to attend training courses as and when required
About you :

City & Guilds level 2/3
Evidence of continuous personal development
Previous experience in the Service/maintenance industry.
Experience in Stock and Asset management
Experience of working in a demanding role.
Customer service experience
Experience of administrative and clerical work.
Experience of producing Reports/documents to a high standard
Data entry experience
Prioritising, planning and organising own tasks
Working knowledge of  PPM software or similar
Understanding of customer service
Health & Safety
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
Excellent communication skills including telephone, email, face to face.
Ability to Plan and organise complex activities or programmes, requiring formulation and adjustment.
Ability to work under pressure.
Excellent organisational skills.
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to develop templates for letters
Ability to organise and manage own time keeping to schedule and deadlines
