My client in Rochester is looking for a CNC Setter operator due to expansion.
My client is a manufacturing organisation that designs and manufactures a wide range of electrical distribution equipment that is used throughout the electrical distribution and supply industry. Our products are used across the globe by a number of electricity supply utilities, satisfying their demanding requirements on many varied network designs and in wide ranging climatic conditions.
Job Purpose:
Responsible for setting and operating Mori Seiki, Tornado CNC machines and Citizen L32 machines to the required job specifications.
Principle Accountabilities:
-Responsible for machine changeovers and production runs based on machine utilisation and target completion dates and within set tolerances. Following works orders, drawings and material specifications.
-Responsible for setting/ operating lathes and machining centres by using Fanuc and Mitsubishi programming system on Mori Seiki, Tornado & Citizen machines.
-Supporting machining output by tooling choice and program design.
-Modify and create new programmes based on drawings and component demand on Mori Seiki , Tornado and Citizen machines.
-Responsible for producing components to the dimensions and special features as stated on the production drawing and in-line with strict tolerances.
-Using a range of measurement equipment including Vernier, micrometres, electronic height gauge, go and no-go gauges and SPC continuous monitoring system Training given.
-Accountable for recording all quality and production data required during the manufacture of components.
-Follow 5S principles; cleaning and maintaining own work areas to good manufacturing practice.
-Responsible for ensuring that all health, safety and quality guidelines are adhered to within the machine shop.
-Ensuring that safe operating procedures are adhered to in the machine shop.
-Responsible for performing daily machine checks, carry out routine maintenance and reports.
-Responsible for carrying out all other associated tasks to ensure the effective and efficient running of the machine shop.
Nature and Scope:
* Working within the machining department ensuring the efficient running of CNC machines.
* Supervision of the machine shop area and operators in the absence of the machine shop Supervisor.
* Minimise machine set-up time.
* Reporting any malfunctions of equipment and minimising machine down-time.
* Responsible for maintaining the condition and stock levels of tooling.
* Maximise material utilisation.
* Work with stock control to maintain accurate stock levels of materials and manufactured components.
* Generate reports detailing actual outputs verses targets.
* Train others to use the machines as and when required.
Qualifications/ Experience:
* GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.
* Relevant apprenticeship.
* 3 years’ experience of CNC operating/ setting
* Experience of 5S in the workplace.
* Good literacy and numeracy skills
* Previous experience of working within a manufacturing environment.
* Read and understand manufacturing drawings.
* Good communication skills, verbal and written.
* Ability to work autonomously, using own initiative, managing oneself and workload
* An organiser with the ability to prioritise and delegate.
* Systematic approach to problem solving.
* Ability to work autonomously.
* A flexible approach to working hours.
* Relevant CNC programming qualification.(Desirable)
* Experience on Fanuc and Mitsubishi systems and Moriseiki and Tornado machines. (Desirable)
* Working knowledge of Moriseiki and Tornado machines. (Desirable)
