Courier Training Overview
This is a classroom based programme delivered to courier van drivers as part of their onboarding process. The drivers will normally be on their first day with the company and are required to attend the training to give an overview of the processes they need to follow when making deliveries to private houses or business premises, and also to highlight the risks associated with driving.
Day One 09.00-17.00. Class size up to 35 attendees
Mandatory training.
Following a registration process, the drivers are given a brief introduction to the course and the mobile phone application they’ll be using during the training.
The attendees will then undertake five E-Learning modules using their mobile phones. The session leader will be on hand to answer questions or assist with any troubleshooting with support from Driver Hire. These modules are self-led and can last from 50-90 minutes depending on the speed of the learner.
The session leader will then run through a series of slides, video and quiz content that highlights the different type of deliveries the courier might undertake during their working hours.
The content is contained within a purpose build learning management platform and delivered via the session leaders laptop to the delegates mobile phone devices.
At the end of the session, a knowledge check quiz needs to be completed by the delegates before leaving the training course. The session leader will also complete an attendance report to finish day one.
Day Two 09.00-13.00. Class size up to 35 attendees
The second day is voluntary for the delegates.
Day two content looks at awareness of risk when driving and ways to avoid incidents and accidents whilst on the road. The content is contained within the learning management platform and is delivered like a PowerPoint presentation. The subject matter covers a range of topics such as speed awareness, observation and concentration, awareness of vehicle dimensions, parking and manoeuvring safely.
The same registration process and attendance reports will be required at the beginning and end of the session.
Train the Trainer Session
Whilst the content for days 1 and 2 is quite straightforward and there are trainer notes to accompany the slides, Driver Hire will run train the trainer sessions to run through the content with the Session Leader and familiarise them with registration and reporting processes. The Session Leader will also be able to access the content prior to delivering a live session to run through each slide in their own time. Full online support is available before, during and after each session by Driver Hire and our customers’ training academy.
There will be a small interview process carried out by the Agency, followed by an online training session for successful candidates
